ideeli, ideeli Home, ideeli online retail, ideeli spring & summer collection, ideeli women's fashion
This past Thursday, Kwittken & Co invited me for another press event, this time for ideeli‘s Spring Fling Press Preview. The invite alone caught my instant attention and RSVP-ed immediately. As chance may have it, the hilarious talent dogs below turned out to be regulars at the ideeli headquarters offices, next to Canal Street.
Coming out of the elevator, into the ideeli open space floor plan, it felt like spring had taken over the showroom: bright neon furnishings, enchanting flowers, eye-catching chocolate pops and an inviting selection of drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
The Spring Fling press event showcased items from the Women and Home sections. The collections ideeli has in store for this spring and summer season are – simply put – a breath of fresh air. From neon colors and stripes, bold colored lace and color blocking fashions, the women’s apparel collections are a must-have for any respectable fashionista. ideeli also excels in the accessories department: the shoes, the scarfs, the bags and the exciting new bathing suits all met the current season’s trends of bright colors, playful patterns and bohemian textures. Highly regarded at the event were the thrilling wrap neon watches from La Mer Collections.
Some more delightful accessories:

I met Bil Donovan a few days ago. What an honor! He is the quintessential New York artist everyone aspires to be. His high-fashion illustrations are to die for, which is why he is Christian Dior’s beauty first-artist-in-residence; he is also a teacher and mentor for generations of fashion students at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I met him at his studio – a wonderland of genius illustrations and happy vibes – and decided we would work together in a Fashion Drawing event he is putting together for April 26th. You can read his full bio below, as well as his interview for Italian Vogue.

global inspired interior design, how to decorate with Ikat fabrics, Ikat, Ikat fabrics, Ikat fashions, Ikat patterns
As New York City interiors expand onto bolder brighter horizons, so is the presence of eclectic ethnic patterns. Ikat fabrics have rapidly become ever more popular, bringing in an indigenous fresh touch to an otherwise neutral tone décor. Tracing its origin back to centuries ago, the whimsical Ikat patterns transcended from Southeast Asia, South America and the Middle East. Western cultures have gladly embraced the watercolor effect fabric, and continue to do so in this age of global style. Luckily for you, New York offers endless opportunities of the bohemian fabric. The recent explosion of ikat patterns in design are meant to bring freshness into the color schemes of contemporary room decor. For the rest of the article, head on to Examiner.com.

Angelina Jolie's Oscar leg, Maria Lucia Hohan dress at the Oscars, Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface, Oscars best dressed, Rose Byrne at the Oscars, sequin evening gowns, Stacy Kiebler at the Oscars
There were many gorgeous ladies yesterday on the Red Carpet at the Oscars, however my absolute favorite was Rose Byrne stunning in Vivienne Westwood. I don’t usually like sequins, but this particular dress, on her, combined with the chic sultry haircut and bare back simply looked amazing. She reminds me of Michelle Pfeiffer in her infamous Scarface dress. It reminds me of my own similar haircut a few years ago.
Stacy Kiebler looked statuesque in her straight off the runway Marchesa.
Ellie Kemper in Armani Prive was another sequin success in a beautiful copper color.
Milla Jovovich stunned in this shimmery white Elie Saab.
Also beautiful was Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen.
Also, Maria Menounos in my favorite Romanian Maria Lucia Hohan!
Last but not least, I enjoyed seeing Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli Couture, Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton and Giuliana Rancic in Tony Ward Couture. Although not loving the dress, I thought Penelope Cruz was graceful in Giorgio Armani, emulating Sophia Loren.
I did not like Jennifer Lopez’s overly sexy Zuhair Murad dress, neither was I too impressed by Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace.
Her extra pale skinny figure got lost in too much velvet and she seemed to really force her leg to stick out. I usually love her appearances, but she is starting to overdo the slit trend. Not to mention how many pranks surfaced after her sticking her leg stage moment … The dress was too casual in my opinion, or perhaps not as put together for an Oscars night; although always beautiful, this one didn’t do it for me.
